A 43-year-old man in Cape Verde bears such an uncanny resemblance to former US President Barack Obama that he has become a celebrity in his country.

Jose Oliveira, a father-of-five, says hardly a day passes without someone mistaking him for the famous US leader.

As a result, Jose, who has been nicknamed "Mr Obama" by his friends and works as a tour guide, gets an endless stream of selfie requests—at least 15 every day.

In an interview, Oliveira said: “Ever since Barack Obama was made president I have had people stopping me to tell me I look like him, so it has been happening for almost 10 years now."

He added that some even ask him if he's Obama's brother. Furthermore, because he works as a tour guide, he's always meeting new people and so the remarks never end.

However, he says he doesn't mind because it's also good for business. In any case, he adds: “I have never said I look like Obama, people tell me I do, and it’s cool. But personally I say Barack Obama looks like me.”
